MARIANA CICERCHIA

About

About
“My practice seeks to articulate the journey of a woman navigating a world that feels foreign, grappling with the sense of never belonging, of being an outsider without a true home.”

Mariana Cicerchia, a self-taught visual artist from Buenos Aires born in 1977, draws inspiration from her upbringing during Argentina's repressive military dictatorship. Her art reflects themes of isolation, fragility, and transformation, channeling both resilience and identity shaped by collective trauma.

Through her work, Cicerchia channels the silent yet powerful voice of art—a voice that, as she describes, “screams out into the night without making a sound.” Her practice stands as both a testament to survival and an exploration of identity, inviting viewers to contemplate the intersection between loneliness and freedom. Within this framework, transformation and self-reinvention are possible; anonymity creates opportunities to relinquish former identities and embrace new ones. This ongoing evolution, unbound by cultural or communal constraints, remains central to her artistic vision.
